Lectors serve in the liturgy of the Mass by carrying
the Book of the Gospels in the procession, and are charged with bringing
to life the readings of the Liturgy of the Word. Lectors also read
the Prayers of the Faithful, announce the Hymns at some Masses, and
very occasionally read the parish announcements.
There is very little requirement necessary for becoming a Lector,
other than a desire to serve reverently, and an ability to speak clearly.
Lectors are scheduled in advance, taking into account their Mass preferences,
and are provided with an annual Workbook which provides a pronunciation
key, as well as guidance which assists in delivering the readings
confidently and effectively.
If you would like to participate in the liturgy as a lector, please
call the Church Office for further information at 716-549-1159.
